• Successful last concert evening of 5th Korkyra Baroque Festival

    The 5th successful and exciting Festival year is behind us. With an intense, exciting and thrilling performance of the ensemble Red Priest we celebrated yesterday the last concert night of this year´s Festival edition. Their exuberant musicality presented a magical world of Georg Friedrich Händel in the special arrangements of the ensemble.

  • Virtuoso performance of The European Union Baroque Orchestra

    It was a wonderful concert night on Thursday with an excellent performance of The European Union Baroque Orchestra under the artistic direction of Lars Ulrik Mortensen. With the virtuoso solo performances of the young musician Jan Van Hoecke (recorder) and concertmaster Bojan Čičić (violin), the orchestra gave us another concert night to remember, presenting us baroque England and works of "Händel and his London colleagues". 

    Yesterday´s concert of the European Union Baroque Orchestra was the first of it´s kind to be performed in Vela Luka (Korčula). It gathered the local and international audience and gave them the opportunity to enjoy wonderful performance of the Orchestra and it´s soloists.

  • Inovativeness of the ensemble The Royal Wind Music left the Korkyra Baroque Festival audience amazed

    Royal Wind are unique and talented. Last night they took us on an inspired musical journey through Europe in front of the high altar with its Tintoretto in our beatific baroque Cathedral of St Mark. Their virtuoso performance, ranging from Sweelinck to Mozart, prompted a powerful response from the audience and showed us what beauty can come from Baroque wind instruments.

  • Purcell's Dido and Aeneas and vocal expression of the ensemble Antihonus delighted the Korkyra Baroque Festival public

    Vocal and instrumental music intertwined at the concert evening of Antiphonus – chamber vocal ensemble, creating Korkyra moments to remember. Large audience at the courtyard of the Arneri Palace enjoyed yesterday a rare vocal excellence of the ensemble Antiphonus under the artistic guidance of Croatian conductor Tomislav Fačini. Their vocal craftsmanship and prolific musicality gave to the Korkyra Baroque Festival's public a special interpretation of the baroque masterpiece of Henry Purcell. It's was a unique journey through English Baroque era.

  • Concert night of the young Italian ensemble ArtiCoolAzione

    Wishing to present their audience with a sound of not yet published Neapolitan cantatas for alto and basso continuo, the members of Italian ensemble ArtiCoolAzione put together a concert repertoire of pure Neapolitan pleasure. Comprised of the works of the composers of the 18th century, yesterday´s evening's concert programme included Italian cantatas and other Baroque forms realized in the works of Leonardo Leo, Salvatore Lanzetti, Alessandro Scarlatti, Adolf Hasse and Giovanni Girolamo Kapsperger. Hidden among them were also a still unheard measures of compositions written for solo harpsichord, theorbo solo, as well as sonatas for Baroque cello and basso continuo. Through this unique baroque jurney we were taken by the excellent performance of the ensembles vocal soloist, Italian countertenor Lorenzo Marziotte.

    Ensemble´s lutist and also founder, Diego Leverić, presente an interesting concert program for solo lute with the works of S. L. Weiss as a part of this year´s festival tour outside the City of Korčula. The concert was held at the parish All Saints Church in Blato on the 9th of September.

  • Unique baroque expression of Petrit Ceku

    There are no words that can describe the uniqueness of the musical moment that happend when a refined musical soul of Petrit Çeku meet a real baroque masterpiece of Johann Sebastan Bach. The finess and expressiveness of it´s interpretation revived a wellknown musical score of Bach´s Cello Suites and gave to it´s guitar arrangements of Valter Dešpalj a special and unique praise. 

    Yesterday's second festival tour concert outside the city of Korčula gave to the festival public the unique opportunity to hear this wonderful musician once again. The concert program comprehended masterpieces for solo guitar and it was held at the Anuncijata Church in Orebić (Pelješac).

  • 5th Korkyra Baroque Festival presents it's new tradition - festival concert tour outside the City of Korčula

    With the yesterday's concert night, held at the Island of Pelješac, this year's jubilar 5th edition of the Korkyra Baroque Festival started a "new" tradition - concert festival tour outside the City of Korčula. This tradition comprehends reruns of the festival's concert offer in Orebić and Oskorušno (Island of Pelješac) and other cities of the Island of Korčula (Blato, Vela Luka and Smokvica). 

    The first to open this newly tradition was the resident festival orchestra Croatian Baroque Ensemble. It's virtuosity and professionality in the interpretation of the baroque repertoire was strenghten by the remerkable expressivness by ensemble's soloists: Ana Benić (transverse flute) and Stjepan Nodilo (blok-flute).

  • Baroque splash by Croatian Baroque Ensebmle

    Tempesta di mare (Sea storm), concert program of pure baroque delight, was presented at yesterday´s 2nd festival night by the resident orhcestra Croatian Baroque Ensemble and their remarkable soloists: Ana Benić and Stjepan Nodilo (flutes).

    This expressive musical program will be presented once more at the first concert of the Festival´s tour outside the Island of Korčula - today 5.9.2016. 8:00 pm in Orebić (Pelješac) at the Atrium of the Monastery of Our Lady of Angels.
